śrī-śuka uvāca

iti vairocaner vākyaḿ

dharma-yuktaḿ sa sūnṛtam

niśamya bhagavān prītaḥ

pratinandyedam abravīt

SYNONYMS

śrī-śukaḥ uvācaŚrī Śukadeva Gosvāmī said; iti — thus; vairocaneḥ — of the son of Virocana; vākyam — the words; dharma-yuktamin terms of religious principles; saḥHe; -nṛtam — very pleasing; niśamya — hearing; bhagavān — the Supreme Personality of Godhead; prītaḥ — completely pleased; pratinandya — congratulating him; idam — the following words; abravīt — said.

TRANSLATION

Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: When the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vāmanadeva, heard Bali Mahārāja speaking in this pleasing way, He was very satisfied, for Bali Mahārāja had spoken in terms of religious principles. Thus the Lord began to praise him.
