tṛtīyāḿ vaḍavām eke

tāsāḿ saḿjñā-sutās trayaḥ

yamo yamī śrāddhadevaś

chāyāyāś ca sutāñ chṛṇu

SYNONYMS

tṛtīyām — the third wife; vaḍavāmVaḍavā; eke — some people; tāsām — of all three wives; saḿjñā-sutāḥ trayaḥ — three issues of Saḿjñā; yamaḥ — one son named Yama; yamīYamī, a daughter; śrāddhadevaḥ — Śrāddhadeva, another son; chāyāyāḥ — of Chāyā; ca — and; sutān — the sons; śṛṇu — just hear about.

TRANSLATION

It is said that the sun-god had a third wife, named Vaḍavā. Of the three wives, the wife named Saḿjñā had three children — Yama, Yamī and Śrāddhadeva. Now let me describe the children of Chāyā.
