harīn daśa-śatāny ājau

haryaśvasya balaḥ śaraiḥ

tāvadbhir ardayām āsa

yugapal laghu-hastavān

SYNONYMS

harīn — horses; daśa-śatāni — ten times one hundred (one thousand); ājau — on the battlefield; haryaśvasya — of King Indra; balaḥ — the demon Bala; śaraiḥ — with arrows; tāvadbhiḥ — with so many; ardayām āsaput into tribulation; yugapat — simultaneously; laghu-hastavān — with quick handling.

TRANSLATION

Quickly handling the situation on the battlefield, the demon Bala put all of Indra's one thousand horses into tribulation by simultaneously piercing them all with an equal number of arrows.
