prajāpater ańgirasaḥ

svadhā patnī pitṝn atha

atharvāńgirasaḿ vedaḿ

putratve cākarot satī

SYNONYMS

prajāpateḥ ańgirasaḥ — of another prajāpati, known as Ańgirā; svadhā — Svadhā; patnī — his wife; pitṝn — the Pitās; atha — thereafter; atharva-āńgirasam — Atharvāńgirasa; vedam — the personified Veda; putratve — as the son; ca — and; akarot — accepted; satī — Satī.

TRANSLATION

The prajāpati Ańgirā had two wives, named Svadhā and Satī. The wife named Svadhā accepted all the Pitās as her sons, and Satī accepted the Atharvāńgirasa Veda as her son.
