sa kadācid bhramaḿs tasmin

pṛthivyāḥ kakudi dvijaḥ

nyāgrodha-potaḿ dadṛśe

phala-pallava-śobhitam

SYNONYMS

saḥhe; kadācit — on one occasion; bhraman — while wandering; tasminin that water; pṛthivyāḥ — of earth; kakudi — upon a raised place; dvijaḥ — the brāhmaṇa; nyāgrodha-potama young banyan tree; dadṛśe — saw; phala — with fruits; pallava — and blossoms; śobhitam — decorated.

TRANSLATION

Once, while wandering in the water, the brāhmaṇa Mārkaṇḍeya discovered a small island, upon which stood a young banyan tree bearing blossoms and fruits.
